Tatparanandam
Ananda Krishnan, born on 1st April 1938 and now 78 year old. He iss a Malaysian
businessman and philanthropist. He is the second wealthiest in Malaysia and
number 129 in the world. Ananda Krishnan’s nicknamed is A Kand shuns public
exposure and is known to maintain a low profile for a person of his stature.
Ananda
Krishnan was born in 1938 in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. He studied at
Vivekananda Tamil School in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur and furthered his studies
at Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur. Later, as a Colombo Plan scholar, he
attended the University of Melbourne, Australia for his B.A. (Honours) degree majoring
in political science and obtained Masters in Business Administration from
Harvard Business School. Ananda Krishnan has two daughters and a son who is
also a Theravada Buddhist monk known as Ajahn Siripanyo.
Krishnan's
first entrepreneurial venture was a Malaysian consultancy MAI Holdings Sdn Bhd.
He set up Exoil Trading, which went on to purchase oil drilling concessions in
various countries. Later, he moved into gambling (in Malaysia). In the early
part of the 1990s, he started diversifying into the multimedia arena.
Currently,
he has business interests in media such as Astro and Johnston Press Plc,
satellite like MEASAT and SES, oil and gas at Bumi Armada and Pexco,
telecommunications such as Maxis, Aircel, Axis, and Sri Lanka Telecom. He owns
stakes in Tanjong Public Limited Company, an investment holding company with
subsidiaries involved in power generation (Powertek), gaming (Pan Malaysian
Pools), leisure (Tropical Islands, TGV Cinemas) and property (67% Maxis Tower
etc.).
Open
risk taker is an individual or business that tends to behave in a way that can
potentially cause physical harm or financial loss, but might also present an
opportunity for a rewarding outcome. Most business types that thrive on innovation
will encourage a risk taker mentality among management to help support the
creative process in other staff members.
There
are lots of successful individuals all over the world stands with a pillar of
strength which Ananda Krishan has said
“No risks, No incomes”. Ananda is an open–risk taker in every single
decision he made. Although he completely be aware of the total net costs of his
investments he put in could bring his life all the way back to his
fountainhead, he is willing to put risks. Krishnan are more likely to be wary
that even if he lost a bet, the failure could make him a wiser person. He has
sparked a prevailing controversy after one of his subsidiaries staked a claim
in a telecommunication company in Sri Lanka. Nonetheless, he remained on track
with his positivity and managed to survive the slight hindrance without any
major disruption in his business operations.
